  • Computer tomography (CT) is a modern non-destructive method in principle suitable for visualization of inner structure of textile composites. Due to the low resolution of commercial apparatus, the structure details cannot be found. On theother hand, the areas of missing yarns, gaps, are well visible. These areas have a negative effect on composite properties. The paper shows that by application of simple image processing procedures (adjust, filter and threshold) from MATLAB,the determination of relative gap amount is possible. The program application needs a calibration stage, in which two key parameters must be set up by visual comparison of resulting and original image. Then the structure evaluation is fullyautomated. As a result, about 20 % of large gaps are in glass fiber reinforced composite. Furthermore, by application of image analysis methods the gaps dimensions can be found. Using 3D graphics, actual space shape of gaps can be visualised.

  • Počítačová tomografie je moderní nedestruktivní metoda pro zobrazování vnitřní struktury materiálů. Běžné aparatury bohužel nemají dostatečnou přesnost a tak nejsou patrné detaily.I přesto je možné z těchto snímků vyčíst základní strukturální parametry pevné vazby. (cs)
