Description
  • For today’s casting production is necessary to ensure not only their quality (an accuracy, a geometry, a surface roughness, a structure homogeneity, a minimal internal stress, etc.), but also castings need to suppress of their dimensional linear and a volume changes. The article deals with measurements of linear changes of castings from Zn-alloys during their solidification. For this purpose a measuring apparatus, which applies a dilatometer of Polish provenience, was built up. The dilatation curves of Zn-alloys were acquired during casting process. The course of volume changes of the castings defines the casting material’s ability to equalize the loss of volume during solidification in an effective way. The volume changes at the process of graphite cast iron solidification have been observed for a long period. Our department of Engineering Technology at the Technical University of Liberec has been concerned with the issue of Zn alloys. At present we perform the experiments with Zn alloys. The crystal structure has the influence on his properties anisotropy (for example a heat conductivity, a heat dilatation, a tensile resistance, etc.). Alloys ZnAl4 (ČSN 42 3558), ZnAl4Cu1 (ČSN 42 3560) and ZnAl4Cu3 (ČSN 42 3562) are the best used zinc alloys for pressure die casting. In this article we would like to acquaint a professional technical public with our research results of determination of the Zn-alloys coefficient thermal shrinkage.
