Description
  • This paper deals with a reverse engineering – the 3D scanning of a physical prototype and the conversion of points from this model. These points can be converted to the 3D surface. I It is described the modification of these data and also the 3D printer for the production of an physical model. The main emphasis was minimal user intervention into the scanned data (their change) - the 3D scan, up to the 3D printer. We had used a non-contact method of scanning. The reason was that the speed and accuracy is higher than contact method. The test was focused on the comparison of the work time performance of the 3D model to the quality of the final 3D printing. We had used a small model of a car for the scanning. This car was in the scale 1:40. For the 3D print we had used the scale 2:1 (i. e. 1:20 compare to the real size of the car).
