Description
  • This paper explores use of in-mold technology for processing of plastics. Principle of this technology lies in melting plastic deposition on back side of decorative or protective layer (textile, foil) in one injection mould. Resulting parts acquire rigidity of plastic carrier and surface properties of the chosen layer. This technology is nowadays widely used for interior parts in cars and planes. New development in this technology improves durability of such plastic parts. Great future can also be expected from use in vehicles working in extreme service conditions. To increase rigidity, plastics are enriched with glass fibers which offers potential for production technology. This paper provides comparison of production by classic injection technology of composite materials and in-mold technology from the flow of melted plastics, deformation of parts and mechanical properties. The comparison of injection process was carried out with newly created simulation model.
