  • Aiming deeper understanding of the properties of yarn (even structural properties) new measurement method called ContElon (continual elongation) was developed and presented in the past [1], [2]. This method is based on the continual measurement of the relative elongation of yarn passing through a loading zone. Some basic tests were performed trying to find out what exactly is the information revealed by this method. It is partially composed of local mass distribution of the yarn, and partially of the structural behaviour of the mass. For the sake of simplicity the yarn twist was examined at first.Furthermore short discussion on basic possible applications both in the research, machine development and industry is presented.
