Description	The need for this book on the role of world forests arose from the significant anthropogenic pressures that forests currently face from global cuttings, climate change and air pollution. Nearly one hundred authors from many countries give their best knowledge on the importance of natural and seminatural forests. In chapter 24 %22Forest Ecosystem Services Under Climate Change and Air Pollution%22, a team of Czech and German authors use the concept of ecosystem services in order to measure in monetary terms the importance of changes in forests caused by anthropogenic impacts. Based on biotope valuation method and Energy-water-vegetation method, they show that the annual supporting and regulating ecosystem services of natural biotopes in the Czech Republic reach up to fifty fold of annual national GDP.
