Description
  • Using a simple physical model, j. e. the propagation of stress wals in a thin elastic rod, we can show how the equivalent finite element (FE) model can be treated by means of various methods securing the numerice integration in time (e.g. central diference method, Newmark and Houbolt methods) and what difference, with respect to an ideal continuum model, could be expected. The FE histories of displacements, velocities, accelerations and strains, presented in pictorial forms, are compared with those of idealized elastic continuum. Differences due to time and space discretization are shown parameters, observe the invoked ganges and try to understand. The paper might be of interest to novice finite element users.
