Description
| - Aim of work is presentation of electrodialysis-reversal (EDR) utilization for tertiary municipal waste water treatment. EDR technology was designed for daily production of 57,000 m3 water with the conductivity between 2,100 and 3,000 μS/cm. There were installed 96 EDR-III/600-0.8 stacks altogether and they were arranged in 48 lines with 2 stages. EDR technology operated in single pass continuous mode with a water recovery 86 % and energy consumption 0.45 kWh/m3. Product water with the conductivity below 830 μS/cm was used for irrigation. EDR-III/600-0.8 stack is produced by MEGA and is equipped with 600 cell pairs of RALEX membranes. Its nominal capacity is in range 30 – 50 m3/h. There were sand and cartridge filters before EDR to reduce suspended solids and turbidity. This technology was located in Barcelona’s region and it was one of the largest in the world that treated waste water for agriculture use.
