Description
  • Poster at 9th International Topical Meeting on Industrial Radiation and Radioisotope Measurement Applications, Valencia (Spain), 6-11 July 2014. Experiments with NAA for Hg mass determination in fluorescent lamps confirmed that this approach is feasible when carried out in DONA vertical channel of the LVR-15 research reactor. A contribution of neutron self-absorption to the combined uncertainty of the Hg mass determination was estimated to be about 5 % or less. The main problem is a high induced activity of 152Eu and 124Sb relative to that of 203Hg. This leads to a higher radiation dose and consecutively radiation damage of the irradiated lamp. In next experiments the procedure will be optimized as concern both irradiation and gamma spectrometry conditions.
