  • The optimization of activation analysis with regard to detection limit and uncertainty of measurement using physical and chemical means is reviewed. Using selected examples it is demonstrated that radiochemical separation is the most effective means of optimization, especially in neutron activation analysis, because it yields the lowest detection limits and uncertainty.
