| - Rozsáhlou oblast ve výzkumu a vývoji stavebních hmot dnes zahrnuje i problematika ekologie, řešící např. minimalizaci vlivu stavebních činností na ekosystémy, tzn. omezení znečištění vody, ovzduší a půdy, snižování hluku, optimalizace dopravních vzdáleností mezi staveništěm a místem vzniku stavebních surovin a materiálů, snižování hmotnosti stavebních objektů, zvyšování trvanlivosti stavebních materiálů a tím i životnost staveb apod. Důležitou oblastí je snaha o co nejefektivnější a nejšetrnější využívání surovinových zdrojů vzhledem k míře jejich neobnovitelnosti, nepřemístitelnosti a vzácnosti, z čehož vyplývá např. redukce přebytků stavebních hmot na staveništích, stavebních odpadů a podpora jejich recyklace, a také tlak na využití značného množství různých velkoobjemových průmyslových odpadních materiálů, které lze s jistým ekonomickým efektem využít ve stavebnictví jako pojiva, přísady a plniva. - Ecology forms currently an extensive area in research and development of building materials. Minimization of influence of building activities on ecosystems, i.e. reduction of water, atmosphere and soil pollution, noise reduction, optimization of transport distances between construction site and source of building raw materials and products, reduction of building object weight, increasing of building materials durability and building durability etc. are solved. Effective and careful utilization of raw material sources is important regarding their nonrenewability, immobility and rarity. Reduction of excess of building materials and building wastes on construction sites, support of their recycling and utilization of big amounts of bulk industrial waste materials as replacement of natural raw materials is necessary.
