Description
  • The new system for predicting the steel temperature in an electric arc furnace has been developed with a view to reduction of energy intensity of steel production in EAF in VITKOVICE HEAVY MACHINERY a.s. This system was developed using artificial intelligence methods. The system not only analyses a process according to submitted sample of input and output data, but also recognizes time snaps of processes in their course, analyses them, transfer them to additional inputs for consequential analysis. The aim of developed system is the reduction of number of steel temperature measurement, which is carried during off-furnace shortening of melting time and limit overheating of the steel. After verifying the off-line system on dataset from heats performed in years 2008 – 2010, an on-line version of system was installed at EAF. The accuracy of predicted temperature is now compared with actual measured temperature, the deviations are analyzed and model is still optimized.
