  • Fishponds are artificial water reservoirs used for fish production, with the possibility of a complete and periodical drawdown. Their average depth is about 1m and they are considered to be human made wetlands. One of the most important fishpond systems is the one of the Třeboň basin (Třeboň fishpond system - TFS). It is situated in South Bohemia in the upper Lužnice watershed, but the whole system also includes the upper watershed in Austria. The system consists of almost 1000 fishponds with a total area of more than 9000 ha. Retention capacity of fishponds is estimated to be as high as 50 - 70 mil. m3, but might be even 110 – 140 mil. m3 during extreme floods. The largest is Rožmberk fishpond (480 ha), which stored 50 – 70 mil. m3 during the 2002 flood while its normal volume is about 5,5 mil. m3.In order to ensure a satisfactory flood retention capacity of fishpond systems, proper maintenance of their technical equipment is necessary and emergency measures for the whole system should be added.

  • Rybníky představují umělé vodní nádrže určené především k chovu ryb, které je možné zcela vypustit. Průměrná hloubka takových nádrží se pohybuje kolem 1 m, je tedy možné je považovat za uměle vybudované mokřady. Nejvýznamnější je rybniční soustava v oblasti města Třeboně v jižních Čechách, která je ovlivňována páteřní řekou Lužnicí a jejími přítoky zasahujícími až do severních oblastí Rakouska. Počet rybníků na území České Republiky a Rakouska je téměř 1000 s celkovou plochou více než 9000 ha a průměrným retenčním objemem 50 -70 mil. m3, ale může být dokonce 110 – 140 mil. m3 v případě extrémních povodní. Největším rybníkem je Rožmberk (480 ha), s retenční kapacitou 5,5 mil. m3. Během povodně 2002 však zadržoval 50 – 70 mil. m3. K zajištění dostateční retenční kapacity při povodních v rybničních soustavách, je nezbytná správná údržba technických zařízení, která pak umožní zásahy v kritických situacích. (cs)
