  • Platinum group elements (PGEs) belong to the group of heavy metals, which represents potential high risk for the environment. They get into the environment mainly from the still increasing transport, however, they are used also in chemical, electrical and glass industry. In this study, we aimed our attention at using electrochemical methods as such differential pulse voltammetry and high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection for determination of Pt(IV) content, amino acids, reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) glutathione levels and phytochelatin synthase (PCS) activity in maize and pea plants treated with various doses of Pt(IV).
