| - The paper focuses on the importance and position of tourism within the economy of the Czech Republic, and on one significant segment of tourism in particular - congress and incentive tourism (CIT). It includes a determination of its economic significance in accordance with the Czech Statistical Office's %22Satellite Account of Tourism in the Czech Republic 2003-2005%22, and data statements on incoming tourism, domestic tourism and outgoing tourism.In 2005 tourism accounted for 2.8 % of the gross added value of the Czech economy and 3.1 % of GDP. In the period investigated, expenditure by tourists nevertheless increased - in 2005 total consumption of internal tourism in the Czech Republic amounted to 217 billion CZK. (cs)
