  • Nový typ stejnosměrného doutnavého výboje při atmosférickém tlaku kombinovaném s termickým katalyzátorem byl použit pro odstraňování těkavých organických sloučenin (VOC). Plazmový reaktor uzavřený ve výbojové komoře se skládá z obdélníkového vedení, v němž je umístěno pět hrotů a deska s kulovými důlky. Mezielektrodová vzdálenost činí 12,7 mm. Výboj se iniciuje napětím až 20 kV, proud do 3 mA. Technologie založené na netermálním plazmatu mohou nabízet dobrou alternativu ke konvenčním technikám pro odstraňování VOC. Ne všechny tyto techniky jsou však schopné úplné destrukce VOC. Navíc se mohou tvořit nežádoucí toxické produkty. Proto se zintenzivňují snahy o zvýšení rozkladu pomocí kombinace netermického plazmatu s katalyzátory.
