  • This paper proposes the use of intelligent signal image processing techniques to detect fish parasites. In order to resolve parasite related health problems in fish, which have negative economic consequences. To increase profits, there is a tendency among fish farmers to maximise production leading to disease problems, including those associated with parasitic pathogens. Among the fish parasites, ectoparasite worms of the Class Monogenea remain a particularly intransigent economic burden for the global freshwater and marine aquaculture industries. One of the most widespread groups of Monogenean parasites is the genus Gyrodactylus, whose members are common ectoparasite Monogeneans of fish within both aquaculture and wild capture fisheries.
