Description
| - The paper is focused on dewatering and treatment of sewage sludge. Sludge represents only one or two percent of treated waste water, but contains from 50 to 80 percent of pollution. Operating costs for sludge treatment can amount to about 50 percent of the total operating costs of the whole waste water treatment plant (WWTP). Therefore, attention was paid to minimizing of operating costs by searching for an optimal dewatering condition. Analyses of different kinds of dewatering methods and sludge treatment were made. The paper consists of an experimental part describing the dewatering experiment. Results were used for the economic balance discussed in the second part of the paper. Dependence of dewatering efficiency on flocculant specific consumption was determined, too.
