  • Biomass in different forms represents an important renewable source of energy contributing significantly for covering energy demands in many parts of the world. Development of advanced technology for biomass utilization is urgently required from the standpoints of global environmental protection measures such as the CO2-reduction and securing alternatives to fossil fuels. A novel technology and/or process unit for combustion of various types of biomass (phytomass, dendromass) is shown in this paper. It has been developed for utility systems supplying heat covering demand in units of MW (usually 1 to 3 MW). Utility systems of small industrial plants, residential and service buildings or complexes can be considered as typical representatives. In the introductory part of this paper brief summary of state of the art is given.
