Description
  • The properties of the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) between hardened Portland cement paste and the surface of the steel reinforcement with and without zinc coating were investigated. The reaction between non-oxidized zinc and zinc oxide on the surface of the zinc coating with hydroxide ions produces calcium hydroxyzincate; the first reaction is accompanied by gaseous hydrogen evolution. The microstructure of ITZ was investigated using the porosimetry and SEM methods.
