  • Matrices based on polyisobutylene (PIB), polymethyl-methacrylate (PA), Viton A 200, Fluorel and polymethyl-siloxane were studied as binders of PBXs, based on RDX, beta-HMX, BCHMX and epsilon-HNIW. Characteristics of detonation, sensitivities and thermal stability of the explosives studied were determined. Heat of detonation was calculated by means of EXPLO 5 code. Fluoroelastomers have not a negative effect on the thermal stability and decrease the friction sensitivity, they have the lowest anti-impact efficiency and a positive effect on performance. PA and PIB decrease thermal stability, the anti-impact influences of PIB-binders are better than those of PA while PA binders have a higher anti-friction effect and slightly negative influence on the performance in comparison with PIB mixtures. The polydimethyl-siloxane has a neutral effect on thermal stability, influences the volume thermo-chemistry of PBXs detonation comparable with that of fluoroelastomers although it does not provide comparable performance.
