Description
  • The simultaneous transport of hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride through an anion-exchange membrane Neosepta-AFN was investigated in a counter-current continuous dialyzer at various acid/salt concentration ratios and volumetric liquid flow rates. The basic transport characteristics - the acid recovery and the rejection coefficient of salt -were evaluated from the experiments at steady state. Moreover, the concentrations of hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride in the membrane, which was equilibrated with the solution of known composition, were determined by the procedure based on the saturation of the membrane with HCl+NaCl solution followed by an extraction of the components into distilled water.
