  • Understanding the motion of solid particles in a non-Newtonian liquid is of importance in many industrial processes. Experiments in different types of constant viscosity elastic liquids show significant differences in drag behaviour. In this work, the terminal falling velocity is investigated in Boger fluids based on the polyalkylene glycol Emkarox HV 45 and maltose syrup. The rheological behaviour of the liquids is measured using the dynamical rheometer RS 150. Analysing the results obtained, the influence of the fluid elasticity and the container wall effects is discussed.

  • Porozumění pohybu pevných částic v nenewtonských kapalinách je důležité v monha průmyslových procesech. Experimenty v různých typech elastických kapalin o konstantní viskozitě ukazují na významné rozdíly chování. V této práci byla zkoumána pádová rychlost v Bogerově kapalině a maltósovém sirupu. Reologické vlastnosti byly měřeny na reometru RS150. Byla provedena analýza získaných výsledků a diskutován vliv elasticity kapaliny a vlivu stěn na měřenou pádovou rychlost. (cs)
