Description	The following article examines and compares the conception of art in the works of Ibsen and Hofmannsthal and describes the archetypes of the artist characters depicted within. Furthermore it will attempt to ascertain which influences can be attributed to the similarities and differences of the two authors in their conception of art. This article is primarily concerned above all other things with the relationship of art to life, in other words, to what extent Ibsen and Hofmannsthal depict life and art as compatible or incompatible. The article also attempts to evaluate the Ibsen's and Hofmannsthal's attitute towards art and its value. (en) Der vorliegende Artikel untersucht und vergleicht die Kunstauffassung in Ibsens und Hofmannsthals Werk und beschreibt den hier dargestellten Typus der Künstlerfiguren. Außerdem geht er der Frage nach, auf welche Einflüsse die Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zwischen den beiden Autoren in ihrer Kunstkonzeption zurückzuführen sind. Der vorliegende Artikel skizziert vor allem die Beziehung der Künstler zum Leben, bzw. beschäftigt sich damit, inwiefern Ibsen und Hofmannsthal Kunst und Leben als miteinander vereinbar oder unvereinbar darstellen. Der Artikel versucht ebenfalls Ibsens und Hofmannsthals Einstellung zur Kunst und ihrem Wert zu erläutern.
