Description	The paper describes the current state and developments in the Czech nonprofit sector against the backdrop of the economic crisis and the resulting austerity measures, the societal and political situation, the changes in legislature and the behaviour of individual and institutional donors. In the introductory chapters, we offer a sketch of the historical legacies that have shaped the post-1989 development of the Czech nonprofit sector and the basic facts and figures about its economy. Then we proceed to discuss the consequences of the membership in the European Union, including the impact of the EU accession on the sector and its relations with the other sectors, the rise of quasi-nonprofits and quasi-representatives of the sector and the resulting negative influence on the relations within the sector. We explore and assess the political and the financial contribution of the EU to the development of the sector.
