Description
  • Most practically applied synthetic polymers are created by chains of organic molecules. We tried to modify their properties using phosphazenic additives. Polyphosphazenes are inorganic polymers with a backbone of alternating phosphorus and nitrogen atoms with two organic or organometallic side groups linked to each phosphorus atom. The stability and strength of nitrogen-phosphorus bonds are well known in synthetic chemistry. These properties give polyphosphazenes many unique characteristics and possibilities of practical applications, e.g. flame retardants. The syntheses of fully substituted phosphazeno derivatives have been investigated in our research. The derivatives containing NH2-, PhO- or CF3CH2O- side groups were synthetized by substitution reactions from the most common cyclic phosphazene P3N3Cl6, the other derivatives having PC bond in their side groups were synthetized from (Me3Si)2NH and PPhCl2 using condensation method.
