Description
| - Plants are dominant biotic component of terrestrial ecosystems and stand at the beginning of the food chain. The plant have abilities to take up, translocate, transform and accumulate environmental contaminants. With the increasing environmental contamination it is necessary to study the phytotoxicity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which can affect several biochemical and physiological processes in plants. The processes of growth and differentiation in plants are controlled primarily by a system of endogenous growth regulators. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of increasing concentration of PAH fluoranthene on the endogenous phytohormones content in pea plants (Pisum sativum L.) cultivated in vitro. The endogenous phytohormones ethylene, cytokinins (DHZR, iP, BA, BAR, mT, mTR) and abscisic acid were determined. Their content increased in positive correlation with increasing fluoranthene loading.
