Description
  • Polycyclic aromatic nitrogen heterocycles (PANH) are widely spread in the environment. They are released into environment from diverse sources such as incomplete combustion of fossil fuels, spills or effluents of several industrial activities, oil drilling, refining and storage, coal tar distillation and wood preservation. High performance liquid chromatography on reversed stationary phases is one of the most used analytical methods for separation of complex mixtures in environmental samples. The possibility to use liquid chromatography on octadecyl stationary phase for separation of polycyclic aromatic nitrogen heterocycles is demonstrated. Mixture of phosphate buffer/methanol was used as mobile phase in isocratic and gradient mode. Retention behaviour of mixture of PANH was studied at different chromatographic conditions. To describe retention changes of PANH as a function of acid-base properties, effect of different pH mobile phase in the region 2.0 to 6.0 have been investigated. Different concentr
