| - The Slovak civil society is vibrant and its structures are considered to be one of the most dynamic among Central and Eastern European countries. Slovak NGOs in 2005 did not go through major structural changes in 2006, but a favorable atmosphere in relations of a government and NGOs from previous years changed. Legal and regulatory environment for civil society is free of excessive state pressures and increasingly also from bureaucracy. Favorable taxation of NGOs from previous years has been announced to be changed by a new government. NGO sector in Slovakia has a well-developed infrastructure, training base, and research base. The recent state administration is less open towards non-governmental organizations than previous one. Activities of Slovak NGOs in the process of democratization in some of foreign countries, especially of western Balkan, continued in 2006. Trade unions are free in Slovakia and by majority of population negatively perceived. The education system is absolutely free of political
