Description
  • The paper concerns the bachelor graduates in Czech Republic. It analyzes their socio-biographic background, course of study, international mobility, employment and professional success. Using the data for REFLEX and REFLEX 2010 surveys it reflects the massive expansion of bachelor study programs, students and graduates in last 10 years. Several important conclusions are reached. Most of Bachelors graduates continue in further studies and this share has been growing Bachelor graduates (those who enter labour market with this degree) are generally older, have lower social origin and more often take the route of vocational track during secondary education studies than Master graduates. If Bachelor studies are not just a stepping stone for Master studies (which is most of the time) it often serves as a way to obtain a higher education degree for people who did not do it in the most usual age and for people with lower social origin. Bachelor graduates have labour market advantages - wages, unemployment, other factors (length of searching job ...) compare to secondary graduates but the same disadvantages comparing to Master graduates.
