Description	In line with recent developments, landscape is not only the object of scientific studies, but is also being included in planning policy and practice. In association with this, a strong sense of landscape as heritage emerges, though the precise meaning of this heritage is always contested. To address this problem, the work described here used the example of the relationship between designated landscape values and recently adopted development areas and axes to show and discuss the way in which landscape heritage is polarized in terms of its value in today?s Czechia, as well as what that means for landscape protection.
