Description	Dalibor von Bedřich Smetana und Josef Wenzig (UA 1868) stellte einen Versuch dar, in das tschechische Milieu die Konzeption der zeitgenössischen tragischen Oper mit dem Zentralthema der Utopie des Glücks im Tode einzuführen. Die Zeugnisse der Zeit und die Bearbeitungen der Oper bezeugen, dass die Stoff aus der nationalen Geschichte andere Erwartungen in der tschechischen musikalischen Öffentlichkeit erweckte, und dass das historische Bewusstsein aktive Helden wünschte und erwartete. Die Handlung, die um das Rache- und Schuldmotiv kreist, stand außer dem Horizont der patriotischen Ideologie. Die Wandlungen der Oper werden bis zur Gustav Mahlers Inszenierung in Wien 1897 gedeutet. The opera Dalibor by Bedřich Smetana and Josef Wenzig represents an attempt to introduce the concept of tragic opera with its central theme of the utopia of fortune in death. (en)
