  • Přítomnost genu pro antimikrobní peptid byla prokázána u různých zástupců rodu Amaranthus (A. albus, A .cruentus, A. blitum, A. hybridus, A. hypochondriacus, A. retroflexus and A. tricolor), u nichž dosud popsán nebyl. Na základě sekvenování PCR produktů výše uvedených amarantů byla zjištěna vysoká podobnost všech sekvencí, s výjimkou dvou polymorfismů. Tyto jednonukleotidové polymorfismy se vyskytovaly v pozicích nukleotidů 45 a 246. Vzhledem k tomu, že oba polymorfismy leží mimo oblast kódující chitin-vázající doménu peptidu, která hraje rozhodující funkci v antimikrobiální aktivitě, nelze předpokládat vliv těchto polymorfismů na funkci peptidu. Mimo zmíněné dva polymorfismy byly všechny sekvence identické se sekvencí genu AMP, který kóduje antimikrobní peptid AcAMP2 u A.caudatus. Na základě vysokého stupně podobnosti výše zmíněných sekvencí se sekvencí genu AMP2 u A. caudatus lze předpokládat přítomnost antimikrobního peptidu i u těchto zástupců rodu Amaranthus. (cs)
  • Antimicrobial peptide gene was found to be present in seven species of the Amaranthus genus (A. albus, A. cruentus, A. blitum, A. hybridus, A. hypochondriacus, A. retroflexus and A. tricolor), in which it had not been described previously. Sequencing of PCR products showed almost identical sequences in all cases, except for two polymorphisms. These single nucleotide polymorphisms occurred at nucleotide positions 45 and 246. Regarding both polymorphisms lay outside the region encoding the chitin-binding domain, which is crucial for peptide function, they will not likely affect the proper functioning of the peptide. With the exception of the above-mentioned polymorphisms, all sequences were identical to the sequence of the AMP2 gene which encodes Ac-AMP2 antimicrobial peptide previously found in A. caudatus. The detection of sequences with high degree of similarity to A. caudatus AMP2 gene leads us to the assumption that an antimicrobial peptide could also be produced by other amaranth species.
