| - The objective of this study was to discriminate between sucking and allosucking behaviour in hinds and their calves of red deer according to the sucking duration. The duration of filial sucking was significantly longer than non-filial sucking. A large individual variance in the incidence of non-filial sucking was found. Sucking duration of occasionally allosucking non-filial calves was only marginally different from that of filial calves. Multiple sucking bouts were shorter than those with one calf. Male calves sucked longer than female calves. Frequently allosucking non-filial males sucked the longest and differently from occasionally allosucking non-filial males. Frequently allosucking non-filial females sucked the shortest and differently from filial calves of both sexes. Allosucking calves differ in their sucking behaviour and two types of allosuckers (frequent and occasional) should be taken into account when analyzing allosuckling behaviour.

- Cílem této studie bylo porovnat délku sání kolouchů jelena lesního u matky a cizích laní (při tzv. allosuckingu, ke kterému ve skupině laní s kolouchy běžně dochází). Sání u matky bylo průkazně delší než sání u cizí laně. Výskyt sání u cizích laní se u jednotlivých kolouchů velmi lišil, proto byli rozděleni na příležitostně allosající a často allosající. Délka sání příležitostně allosajících kolouchů se nelišila od délky sání vlastních kolouchů. Kojila-li laň současně více kolouchů, trvalo sání (vlastního či allosajícího koloucha) kratší dobu, než sál-li v dané chvíli kolouch sám. Jelínci sáli obecně déle než laněčky. Často allosající jelínci sáli u cizí laně delší dobu než příležitostně allosající jelínci. Často allosající laněčky sály nejkratší dobu, a to významně kratčeji než sáli kolouši obojího pohlaví u svých matek. Závěr: Kolouši se v chování při sání u cizích laní liší. Při analýze kojícího chování je tudíž třeba brát v úvahu dva typy allosání (časté a příležitostné). (cs)
