Description	Achievements and prospects of wheat breeding for disease resistance in the world and in the Czech Republic are reviewed. Attention was paid to possibilities to improve resistance to rusts, powdery mildew, fusarium head blight, leaf blotch, glume blotch, tan spot, common bunt and barley yellow dwarf virus on wheat. Methodical approaches adopted in national ring infection tests were outlined. Sources of resistance to the above mentioned diseases were selected and characterized on the basis of three year results of field infection tests. (en) V článku byly shrnuty výsledky a perspektivy šlechtění pšenice na odolnost k chorobám ve světě i v České republice. Pozornost byla věnována zvýšení rezistence k následujícím chorobám: rzi, padlí travní, fuzariózy klasu, braničnatka plevová, braničnatka pšeničná, Pyrenophora tritici repentis, sněti mazlavá a zakrslá a žlutá zakrslost ječmene u pšenice. Byly uvedeny metodické přístupy, které jsou využívány v národních kruhových testech. Na základě výsledků tříletých pokusů byly vybrány a charakterizovány zdroje rezistence k výše uvedeným chorobám.
