  • The median chemical composition and maximum concentrations of major components in groundwater in the Cenomanian aquifer are in mg/L: Ca 43/290, Na 8/200, Mg 6/76, K 3/20, HCO3 159/360, SO4 16/800, Cl 5/54, NO3 0.8/67. In the Turonian aquifer they are in mg/L: Ca 100/407, Na 6/211, Mg 6/175, K 2/23, HCO3 260/530, SO4 47/1590, Cl 13/120, NO3 11/108. The maxima of major ions may indicate an admixture of fossil brine and an agricultural pollution. Activities of 14C, 39Ar and 85Kr indicate ages of water from 600 to 17000 years from recharge to discharge areas of the Cenomanian aquifer. Residence time of old water in Turonian aquifer is above 200 years. The age of recent groundwater is 4 to 11 years. Groundwater in the Turonian aquifer is an admixture of 25 to 45% of old water in the recent groundwater.
