Description
  • The Kozlowskii Event extinction in the Prague Basin is not prominent in number of extinct taxa among Ludfordian extinctions, but by its short duration and changes in community structure in both nektonic and pelagic and benthic faunas of different depth zones. The number of taxa going extinct is relatively low because some sensitive benthic and nectobenthic organisms disappeared already at the base of the N. kozlowskii Zone contemporaneous with the beginning of a sea level highstand. The Kozlowskii Event includes two phases of extinction coinciding with two erosional sequence boundaries. The event also coincides with climatic changes and alterations of the ocean current regime. Sedimentary facies indicate that the first phase of extinction in the upper N. kozowskii Zone took place during a sea level highstand situation. A short-term highstand with associated reduction in current activity occurred also during the second phase of extinction in the lowermost M. latilobus Zone.

  • V pražské pánvi není kozlovskii vymírací event prominentní mezi ludfordianskými extinkcemi v počtu vymřelých druhů, ale svým krátkým trváním a změnou ve struktuře pelagických a bentických společenstev ve všech hloubkových zónách. Počet vymřelých druhů je malý protože k prostředí citlivé bentické a nektobentické druhy vymřeli dříve na bázi zóny N. kozlowskii Zone současně s nástupem vysokého stavu hladiny. Kozlovski event se skládá ze dvou extinkčních fází koincidujících s erozními povrchy. Event je důsledkem klimatických změn a změny v cirkulaci mořských proudů. Sedimentární záznam dokládá, že první fáze extinkce ve svrchní zóně N. kozowskii se udála během vysokého stavu hladiny. krátkodobý vzestup hladiny spojený s redukcí proudového režimu charakterizuje druhou fázi extinkce v nejnižší zóně M. latilobus.
