Description
  • Two broad ternary g1 and g2 solid solutions, separated by a very narrow two-phase g1 + g2 field, dominate the diagram. The hexagonal g1 solid solution forms an extensive field: it includes all of the Fe2P-Ni2P side and reaches up to approximately 4 mol% Co2P along the Co2P - Fe2P join and up to about 71 mol.% Co2P along the Co2P - Ni2P join. The hexagonal g1 solid solution with an Fe/Ni ratio equal to 3 corresponding to the new mineral allabogdanite dissolves at least 13 mol. % Co2P. Beyond, it transforms to the orthorhombic g2 modification. This is surprising because the Co content reported in allabogdanite appears to be too low to cause the transition of the hexagonal g1 structure to the orthorhombic g2 structure. The orthorhombic - g2 solid solution (Co2P structure type) forms a broad field along the Co2P-Fe2P join. On the Co2P-Fe2P join, the g2 solid solution reaches about 89.0 mol. % Fe2P and on the Co2P-Ni2P join it reaches about 17.0 mol. % Ni2P.
