Description	The cytotoxic effects of photodynamic therapy (PDT) on K562 cells were studied. Using bromodeoxyuridine or 3H-thymidine incorporation methods the suppression of proliferation by 40 -50 % was found. By immunoblotting using specific antibodies the processes were revealed suggesting initiation of apoptosis: release of cytochrome c from mitochondria into cytoplasm and suppression of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-XL after PDT.
