Description	The article maps out the use of fluorite as a specific pigment of historical painting techniques in examples from a set of more than twenty Late Gothic and Renaissance works owned by the National Gallery in Prague and other collecting institutions and historical buildings. This study brings the first summary of the findings acquired within the framework of the historical art fund of Bohemia and Moravia. It was conceived in particular with regard to the use of more general conclusions, in an effort to provide support for the identification of fluorite within the framework of the standard analyses of material research substance (optical microscopy, microchemical analysis,SEM/EDS, FT-IR). At the same time the study of the historical works investigated showed that our findings correspond to the more general period practices of surrounding countries as described so far in foreign literature..
