Description	Termické zpracování odpadů je proces, kdy působením na odpadní materiál teplotou přesahující mez její chemické stability dochází k přeměně původně nebezpečných látek v odpadech na poměrně neškodné produkty. Za určitých podmínek je možno odpady využívat při spalování za účelem získávání energie, některé druhy odpadů je vhodné používat jako palivo v zařízeních spoluspalujících odpad a některé odpady se využívají pro výrobu alternativních paliv. Mezi zařízení spoluspalující odpady patří zejména cementárny, kde lze jako přídavné palivo přidávat použité pneumatiky, stabilizované kaly, upotřebené oleje, masokostní moučku a podobně. Spalování odpadů je výhodné z hlediska možnosti odstranění velkého množství netříděného, různorodého a mnohdy nebezpečného odpadu a vzniku malého množství různých vedlejších produktů (popel, struska, plynné látky). Tato skutečnost však znamená, že termické metody nejsou konečným způsobem odstraněním odpadů. Under certain conditions, it is possible to utilize waste during combustion in order to obtain energy. Certain types of waste can be used as fuel in facilities co-combusting waste and some waste is used for the production of alternative fuels. With an outlook for the future, it is apparent that energy utilization of waste will have its irreplaceable place in waste disposal management, along with related production and application of solid alternative fuels (herein after referred to as SAFs) on the base of waste.
