| - At present one of the very important product qualities is the length of service life (durability) which can be the decisive criterion for the product competitiveness as well. This is why, among other things, that many manufacturers, included those in aviation, spare no effort to increase durability of their new products or prolong the service life of the old ones. However, this brings a whole complex of problems beginning from certificates of durability through changes in structure to higher quality of surface treatment and protection. Owing to this, there is a trend to attach higher importance to systems of inspection of pivotal parts, mainly of airframe primary structure, which are performed on a regular basis within predefined time intervals on products already operated and which are entirely related to possible damage due to corrosion.
