Description	The aim of the proposed project of applied research is design and biological activity study of potential antibacterial drugs applicable during the act of bioterrorism. It is focused on pathogens causing whooping cough (Bordetella pertusis) and anthrax (Bacillus anthracis). The main objective of the research is development of a medicinal drug with documented efficacy in vivo that would be applicable to humans in case of a bacteriological attack. The goals consist of identification of effective inhibitors of the adenylate cyclase toxin of Bordetella pertusis and Bacillus anthracis, identification of compounds with direct antibiotic activity, identification of new types of antibiotic agents with new mechanism of action, identification of immunomodulating compounds, and development of recommended medical treatment in case of bioterrorist attack with the patogens studied. (en) Náplní navrhovaného projektu je aplikovaný výzkum zaměřený na hledání potenciálních léků účinných proti bakteriálním onemocněním zneužitelným v případě bioterorismu. Hlavní pozornost bude věnována patogenům vyvolávajícím černý kašel (Bordetella pertussis) a sněť slezinnou – antrax (Bacillus anthracis). Cílem je vyvinout experimentální léčivo, jehož účinek by byl prokázán in vivo na vhodném zvířecím modelu a které bude reálně použitelné v případě bioteroristického útoku pro léčbu zasažených osob. Dílčí cíle projektu jsou nalezení účinných inhibitorů adenylátcyklasových toxinů bakterií Bordetella pertusis a Bacillus anthracis, nalezení látek s přímým antibiotickým účinkem, identifikace typově nových skupin antibiotických látek s novým mechanismem účinku, nalezení látek stimulujících imunitní systém a vytvoření doporučeného léčebného postupu pro boj s bioterorismem v případě nasazení studovaných patogenů.
