Description	The Applicant submitting the current project (BIOMEDTEST) is the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and its essentials partner for realization of the project: BioTest Company. The main objective of the BIOMEDTEST project is to develop biomedical models of spinal cord injury and Huntington disease in miniature pigs. We want to achieve the objective by implementing the following research programs: a/ to develop a unique model of spinal cord defects in miniature pigs, b/ to discover the optimal combination of protein markers that will characterize cells intended for transplantation, to test safe application of cell therapy, to prepare the acute and transgenic models of Huntington disease via application of lentiviral vectors for mutated huntingtin. All biomedical models will be offered for practical testing of new medicaments and methods of cell therapy. (en) Projekt lze definovat jako soustředěné úsilí aplikovaného výzkumu k vytvoření jedinečných biomedicínských modelů závažných lidských onemocnění: traumatického poškození míchy a Huntingtonovy choroby. Těsná spolupráce výzkumného týmu a soukromé firmy umožní co nejvčasnější aplikaci těchto modelů ve farmakokinetickém testování a jejich významné ekonomické zhodnocení. Dosažení tohoto cíle je reálné v průběhu čtyř let řešení. Oba partneři (UŽFG a BioTest) budou usilovat o co nejvčasnější zavedení obou modelů do povědomí jak vědeckých institucí v Evropském výzkumném prostoru, tak všech farmaceutických a biotechnologických firem orientovaných na léčení neurologických onemocnění.
