The objective of the proposed project is to elaborate and provide agricultural practice with guidelines and methods for designing cereal management practices (and their modifications in relation to environmental conditions) and a methodology for the selection of cereal varieties considering soil-climatic conditions and farming practice. The project is based on a major hypothesis that the three basic elements of the system, genotype x environment x crop management practices, are interacted on a level of populations – cereal stands. Crop management practices based on uniform techniques and standard rates of fertilizers and pesticides usually do not lead to the best economic effects. With regard to hierarchical structure of agricultural systems, modifications of crop management practices can be divided as follows: - modifications related to soil-climatic conditions, - modifications related to farming practice, - seasonal modifications, - modifications related to agrobiological particularities of varie (en)
