Description
  • The aim of this project is to elucidate the role of proline and polyamines, metabolites with the crucial protective functions, in the stress response of tobacco plants to high temperature and drought. Characterization of defense response in wild plants and in transgenic plants over-expressing Δ1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase gene (P5CS), which codes for the key enzyme of proline biosynthesis, will contribute to understanding of the function of these protective elements in plant abiotic stress tolerance.   • Porovnání stresových odpovědí transgenních rostlin tabáku se zvýšenou hladinou prolinu s reakcí odpovídajících kontrolních rostlin tabáku nám umožnila vyhodnotit účinek zvýšené hladiny prolinu na dynamiku obsahu polyaminů za stresových podmínek. Zjištěné synchronní změny v hladinách prolinu a polyaminů předpokládají metabolickou koordinaci mezi metabolickými drahami prolinu a polyaminů. (cs)
  • Comparison of the stress responses of transgenic plants with significantly enhanced proline levels to that of the corresponding wild type tobacco plants allowed us to estimate the impact of increased proline levels on the dynamics of PA levels under stress conditions. The synchronous changes in proline and polyamine levels presume the coordination between their biosynthetic pathways. (en)
