Description
  • The aim of the project is to strengthen the already existing collaboration in investigation of solar wind structures and their propagation across characteristic boundaries that are created by interaction of the solar wind with obstacles like planets, comets, moons or interstelar medium. We plan to use measurements of widely spaced spacecraft in the solar wind (SOHO, ACE, Wind, STEREO A and B, Geotail) and trace their observations toward the termination shock and beyond where they can be observed by Voyager 1 and 2. Comparison of these observations will contribute to our understanding of evolution of the interplanetary shocks, ICMEs, CIRs and other distinct solar wind structures along large distances and elucidate their interaction with the termination shock. The study of processes at the termination shock will be compared with similar studies of the interaction of solar wind structures with the Earth bow shock and magnetopause.   • Three project milestones were reached by the end of 2012. Each of them resulted in two papers in journals and numerous contributions to international conferences. We have analyzed heliosheath fluctuations, found possible source sources of supersonic jets in the magnetosheath, described evolution and deformation of iCMEs along their path and studied the magnetospheric response.   • V roce 2012 bylo řešení projektu úspěšně završeno. Výsledkem každého z dílčích cílů jsou dvě publikace v impaktovaných časopisech a řada příspěvků na mezinárodních konferencích. Podrobně jsme analyzovali fluktuace v heliosheathu, nalezli zdroj nadzvukových toků v přechodové oblasti, podrobně popsali vývoj magnetických oblaků podél jejich dráhy a sledovali odezvu magnetosféry.
