One of the main factors determining compressive strength of hydrated materials based on Portland cements is the micro-structural arrangement of their major binding component, the so-called C-S-H gel. The micro-structure of this gel is fractally arranged. Recent results of the Czech research group have showed a possibility of quantitatively deriving the compressive strength of the C-S-H gel from its micro-structural fractal characteristics. The goal of the proposed joint research is to perform a deeper analysis of the mentioned phenomenon, both theoretically and experimentally. The analysis should result in formulating a new non-destructive method for assessment of the status of mechanical strength of C-S-H gel. The envisaged method will be based on the microscopic-fractal principle. The consequence of this principle is the existence of a relationship between compressive strength and the fractal dimension of the gel microstructure. Studies in this field performed so far could not indicate this r (en)
