Description
| - We propose a collaborative project in astrophysics. We will focus on spectral and timing signatures of strong gravitational fields near black holes. Primary attention will be concentrated on phenomena that are thought to best reveal the physical processes in the inner accretion disks, and in particular on developing a more rigorous modelling and data analysis methodology. The investigators have already demonstrated fruitful collaboration, for example by publishing the papers on „Non-Linear Resonance in Nearly Geodesic Motion in Low-Mass X-Ray Binaries” (PASJ 2003, Vol. 55, p. 467), “Epicyclic oscillations of fluid bodies: II. Strong gravity” (CQG 2006,Vol. 23, p. 1696) and other. They organized a joint workshop on quasi-periodic oscillations, which took place at the Academy of Sciences in Prague 2005. The subject is relevant for our understanding of black-hole candidates and microquasars in the Milky Way, and has applications also to active galaxies and quasars. - Navrhujeme projekt základního výzkumu v oblasti astronomie a astrofyziky. Hlavním výstupem budou nově získané poznatky o kompaktních objektech s velmi silnou gravitací, a následně pak odborné přednášky a publikace o těchto nových poznatcích.

| - Projekt MŠMT Kontakt podpořil intenzivní spolupráci dvou týmů působících v oboru astrofyziky, a to mezi Astronomickým ústavem AV ČR a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, USA). V průběhu čtyřletého trvání projektu byly zejména uveřejněny četné odborné články v respektovaných zahraničních astronomických časopisech referující o dosažených výsledcích. (cs)
- The project Kontakt of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports supported a four-year intense collaboration in the field of astrophysics, carried out between research teams at the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, USA).
