Description
| - Magnetic clouds are phenomena in the solar wind which affect geomagnetic activity at Earth, sometimes very strongly. Changing geomagnetic fields induce electric currents which may have influence on various ground systems (electric power grids, gas and oil pipe networks, control systems in transportation, etc.). Therefore it is very desirable to have ability to predict possible consequences to be caused by magnetic clouds ejected from the Sun. The present project is a contribution in this direction. To better understand structure of magnetic clouds and their global three dimensional shape, propagation and evolution in order to make better our prediction capabilities. During the project solution, we plan to improve our dynamical models of magnetic clouds or design new ones in order to describe magnetic cloud observations as best as possible. | - Project dealt with magnetic clouds, closed plasma loops ejected from the solar corona during eruptions. We improved magnetic cloud models incorporating their expansion and curvature. They yield a better agreement with observations. A simulation model was created for cloud propagation in the interplanetary space to help space weather forecast, it was tested on real events. (en)
- Projekt se zabýval magnetickými oblaky, uzavřenými smyčkami plazmatu, vyvrhovanými ze sluneční koróny během eruptivních procesů. Zpřesnili jsme modely oblaků zahrnutím efektů rozpínání a zakřivení oblaků. Dávají lepší shodu s pozorováními. Vytvořili jsme simulační model šíření oblaku v meziplanetárním prostoru pro účely předpovědi kosmického počasí a testovali jsme jej na reálných událostech. (cs)
